A Gutternote note sticks to a part of the page, such as a button or a heading. It stays attached to that part as the site changes.
Start commenting
Open the page and select Gutternote in the toolbar. If you are not signed in, Gutternote asks you to sign in or enter a guest name, depending on the project.
Comment mode stays on as you move between pages. To stop, select the Gutternote
button again or press Esc.
Pick what you mean
Move the pointer over the page. Gutternote outlines the part your note will attach to. Click it, and a note box opens beside it.
Pick the smallest part that shows the problem: the button for a button problem, the whole card only when the whole card is wrong. Picked the wrong thing? Click another one before you send.
If the problem covers more than one thing, such as a gap between two sections, press and drag across it. Your note covers everything inside the box.
Write and send
Type your note, then press Enter or select the arrow button. Press
Shift+Enter for a new line.
A numbered pin appears beside what you picked, marked sending… until it is
saved. If it can’t be saved, it stays marked not sent. Select try again
or discard. Trying again never posts a second copy. To throw a note away
before you send it, press Esc.
Use the page while commenting
While you comment, clicking a link adds a note instead of following it. To use
the page normally, hold Space while you click. Let go to go back to
commenting.
Move the toolbar
Drag the toolbar’s grip to move it to another corner. It remembers the corner on this device.
