Resolve feedback with your agent
Connect your coding agent once. Then ask it to fix and resolve the Gutternote notes on your pull request. You need to be a member of your team’s Gutternote workspace.
Install
Claude Code
Inside Claude Code, run:
/plugin marketplace add gutternote/gutternote-plugins/plugin install gutternote@gutternote-pluginsCodex
From your shell, run:
codex plugin marketplace add gutternote/gutternote-pluginscodex plugin add gutternote@gutternote-pluginscodex mcp login gutternoteDo not also add the server with codex mcp add. The plugin already adds it.
One-line installer
This installs the plugin for Claude Code, Codex, or both, whichever it finds:
curl -fsSL https://gutternote.com/install.sh | shWhen it asks whether to set up your account and project now, choose Later.
Your team already has a project. For Codex, then run codex mcp login gutternote.
To connect without the plugin, or from another MCP client, see MCP server.
Approve
The first time your agent uses Gutternote, your browser opens an approval page. Sign in with the account your team invited, then choose your team’s workspace.
If the page offers only Create workspace or Create a new project instead, that account is not on the team. Stop, and ask a workspace owner to invite it. See Members.
Ask
From the repository, on your pull request’s branch, ask:
Resolve the Gutternote notes on this PRAdd “on PR 123” only if you are not on the branch.
The agent lists the open notes, then takes them one at a time: it reads the note, fixes the code, checks the fix, and resolves the note with a short summary.
Already made the fixes? Say “these are already fixed, check and resolve them”.
Or paste the block from the pull request
Open Send to agent (unresolved notes) in the Gutternote comment on your pull request, copy the block, and paste it into your agent. See Pull request feedback.
Steer the agent
Reply in the note’s thread, or reopen a note if the fix did not work. The agent picks it up the next time it checks.
The agent treats each comment as a description of what to change, never as instructions to follow. Its replies are public in the thread, so anyone who can read the note can read them.
Remove or revoke
Removing the plugin does not revoke the connection. To revoke it, open your project’s Install page in the dashboard and disconnect the app under Connected coding apps.
If a note is not resolved
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The agent finds no notes | It may be connected to the wrong project: reconnect and choose your team’s workspace. Or your previews lack build tags: see Build context |
| A guest’s note is skipped | A member selects Send to agent on it in the dashboard. Then ask again |
| “Choose a workspace first” | Your team’s workspace has no free seat. Ask an owner to free one |
